Hello!

My name is Lenneisha, proud mum of Khari, my bright, brave boy who inspired this book! A simple educational A-Z guide to Sickle Cell, where each letter introduces a key element with a word and explains it in clear, child friendly language.

Khari has Sickle Cell (HBSS) a condition that was diagnosed from birth. On our journey so far, I’ve often struggled to find child friendly resources that explain his condition in a way that a child could truly understand. That is what inspired me to create this book, something made for children, by a mother who understands. My goal is to keep raising awareness, spark conversations, and help children, parents and communities learn about Sickle Cell with both compassion and clarity.

What started as a way to support my son has grown into a mission, to see this book and the message behind it, reach every school library, every hospital, and GP surgeries across the UK. Representation matters deeply and our children and young people living with Sickle Cell deserve to see themselves reflected in the resources they use as well as the care they recieve. Through education, awareness, empathy, and honest conversations, we can change the narrative and make sure that no child or parent feels unseen or unsupported!

My biggest motivation is giving Khari the best possible future, one filled with hope, understanding, and opportunity. Every page of this book represents not just our journey, but a call to action - to continue to build awareness, foster inclusion, and ensure all families have access to knowledge that empowers them.

My vision is to have this book in as many NHS Trusts as possible and to connect with charities, schools, and organisations that share the same passion for education, advocacy, and community change. Together we can raise awareness, break stigma, and make a lasting impact, because we can and we will!

My Khari continues to show incredible strength and resilience every day, I am endlessly proud of him and of all fellow Sickle Cell Warriors and their families.

We’ve been a little quiet on socials lately with work commitments and Khari’s transition into secondary school, but please feel free to say hi or tag us in your posts, we always love hearing from you!

Thank you,
Lenneisha ❤️
